Program Goals & Objectives

The Goals and Objectives of the Art Expression Program are as follows.
  1. Increase in self-esteem, as evidenced by positive statements about self.
    Positive statements about their work.
    Participate in a fair self-assessment of personal accomplishments.
  2. Development/enhancement of social skills through participation in a group.
    Show respect by listening, sharing materials and ideas and personal space.
    Demonstrate appropriate critique format for all art expression.
  3. Utilization of problem solving strategies to reach an appropriate resolution, as it relates to projects and interactions.
    Demonstrate an ability to identify and communicate the problem.
    Create an appropriate plan of response.
    Attempt the plan and/or seek assistance.
    Evaluate the outcome.
  4. Increase in tolerance for frustrations experienced in a group setting.
    Recognize and communicate the onset and cause of the frustration.
    Use problem solving strategies to manage frustration.
  5. Establish independence by putting themselves forward in an appropriate manner.
    Self-initiate appropriate leadership within the group.
